Onion Skins

These are my brown onion skin samples, so many shades...........

This is so satisfying.  Tomorrow I have some carrot tops to try - greens I suspect.

These are some small rust stitching pieces I have done with rust dyed cotton pieces and stitched onto tray dyed rusted blanket pieces.  They are about 6" square (13 cms square).

Luke's foraging bag.  It's about 8" x 6".  I do hope he likes it and uses it.  It was such a big birthday party and he got so many presents it was very hard to keep up. 

 

  

Patchwork

 

I have made these tops for table mats using a stack and whack variation.  I layered the fabrics and then cut them using a pattern for log cabin.  I really like the colours and I have some heat resistant batting for them.

Out of the black

 Winter Toes.

So cool, but not the blue winter feet.  I have to go without socks or slippers for a couple of hours until The polish hardens.  The trials and tribulations of beauty.  And even when I do have the socks and slippers on I will be able to have a quiet secret smile knowing I have such beautiful toes.  I shall go and practise.

 New Winter Skirt.

I made this the other day for wearing in the wind and rain in Wellington.  I just love the colours.

Black kimonos

I have a pile of old black kimonos in my shelf and so I decided to unpick some and reassemble them into a quilt.  A dear friend died recently and I thought these might be a way of laying them to rest.  They are all constructed from about 18 inch strips and handsewn.  

  I am putting it together with handstitching - just running stitch at the moment, just like the original stitching.  The coloured pieces are from linings.  The pieces all have lots of wear marks and stitching.

 

The black horizontal running stitch is mine and the vertical on the blue is original. 

 

I am stitching all the blue squares down at the moment.  It sure takes forever - "slow art".  I am hoping to get it all finished for the National Quilting Show in August.  I am hoping for lots of focused attention and no wandering off!!!! 

Pink pants

 

The other day I cut out these beautiful pink pants.

 

And now I have these beautiful pink linen pants hanging in my wardrobe.  This is my first completion in my sewing project for this year!!
