A School Ball

Last night Steve and I went to "the school ball".  He is a maths teacher at a local boys' school.

This is my corsage.  I know it looks like some strange insect.  It has a gardinier (I think) in the middle and smelt so lovely - very lemon.  We didn't know dinner was part of the occasion and so ate two dinners - I find food very hard to resist.  The students were all so dressed up and it was neat to see them.  Steve is a very good dancer and so we did some dancing .  I was so worried a random might ask me to dance, that didn't happen thank goodness.

Riversdale

In the school holidays just gone we went to Riversdale and stayed in a cottage with some friends.  The weather was windy and wet.

 

And very beautiful.  I stayed inside and read books and ate mostly.

 

 

The people who own the cottage gave us this beautiful bowl of beautiful free range eggs.  They were truely these amazing colours and not very big.

And on morning some friends of the farmer came with dogs and got this pig.  You may have to look carefully, it is on the back of the trailer, on the tractor.  I am told it is quite big for a pig.

 

A real farm and real country!!!!!  We didn't get offered any to eat :) .

Making Muffins

 

In the weekend we had a couple of very soft bananas, absolutely the right sort for muffins and a few blueberries to make up the numbers.

 

And then when I went to put them in the muffin pans I couldn't find them anywhere.  So we had to have loaf instead.  It was very nice but a bit of a shock and now I am left worrying about where on earth my muffin pans are?  I have written myself a note to get  some more.

I have been thinking about posting and such like and decided that I will post in the week and not in the weekend.  Well that is my goal for now.  So happy reading.

Cicadas

Yesterday was the most glorious day and not much wind.

 

And I heard the first cicadas.  They get very noisey as summer moves on and then suddenly it's Autumn. 

 

This was yesterday's lunch - note the lettuce and basil from my very own garden.  Not the tomatoes yet but soon.  My tomatoes are just little ones, cherry tomatoes I think.
